There are over 20 species of walnut of which Bastogne is the rarest. Bastogne, aka Paradox is the result of cross pollination between english walnut (Juglans regia) and California claro walnut (Juglans hindsii). This tree was first discovered by the famous botanist Luther Burbank. Bastogne is known for being very hard and displays the characteristics of both english and claro walnut. Bastogne is a must in any wood aficionados collection and would make a truly one of a kind musical instrument or high-end accessory project. Over time this wood will turn a warm peach/apricot color.
