Bastogne Walnut Musical Instrument Blank: 1 3/4" Thick x 9 3/4" to 10 5/16" Wide x 33 1/2" Length. Spectacular figure and color in this rare blemish free Bastogne walnut luthier blank. Air dried to 8% moisture content; machined flat and finish sanded. This is a must in any wood aficionados collection.

There are over 20 species of walnut of which Bastogne is the rarest. Bastogne (Paradox) is the result of cross pollination between english walnut (Juglans regia) and California claro walnut (Juglans hindsii). This tree was first discovered by the famous botanist Luther Burbank. Bastogne is known for being very hard and displays the characteristics of both english and claro walnut.
